Drawing from inspiration of the european country of Kiki’s Delivery Service, I designed a packaging system for the bakery within the movie, called Gütiokipänjä. I wanted the packaging and ambience to seamlessly fit into the world of Kiki’s Delivery Service. ScopeBranding Design Packaging Design Timeline1 Week

Gutiokipanja Bakery Closer Look, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Directed By Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli, 1990Gutiokipanja Bakery Scenic Setting, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Directed By Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli, 1990Painting you a picture, welcome to Gütiokipänjä. The sweet smell of fresh bread in the air, blending into the air with the fresh sea salt spray that carries over from the coast leaves customers feeling refreshed and comforted. In the sky you can see Kiki, Gütiokipänja’s best employee. With her broom and magic powers, the young, aspiring witch flies in the sky offering her services to deliver all sorts of goods. Accompanying her is her lovely talking cat, Jiji.
And of course, how could you miss her without her big red bow?

I was able to construct the bow using the dieline of the counter of the heart.
From Sketch to Finalized, I’ve stayed true to the original idea of the european cottage vision, using tulip details and scallops. Most of the bread names have little nods to characters within the film as well.
